Update on Tito
Two weeks ago Saturday we took Tito to our vet and when they sedated him to change his splint they found that his leg wasn't healing. That means he had to have surgery. So we scheduled the surgery for the following Tuesday. The surgery went really well and his leg is getting better so far. He's using it more than he should, but keeping him down and calm is not easy. For now he also has to wear the cone of shame. He hates it but looks so cute in it!

Mr. T
So yesterday, Saturday, I was visiting mom and we had an incident. Poor Tito, my grandpa's Chihuaua, was running down the ramp in the backyard and we assume he got his leg stuck in between two of the planks. So we rushed him to the emergency vet where we found out he broke both bones in his right front leg. Basically they snapped perfectly in the same place. For the time being his leg is in a splint and qualifies for surgery depending on what our vet thinks. The poor little guy had to be sedated for them to splint his leg since he was in so much pain.
Shortly after we got him
This was right after we got him home to his grandpa and he was really drugged out.
Update: Mom had to take him back to the emergency at 3:30 this morning because his splint had somehow come off and he couldn't stop crying. Hopefully our little guy will be feeling better soon.

Apple Pie
This year for Thanksgiving I decided to make my first Apple pie. I was really excited to do it and it took a good 2 hours to get everything done but the end result was pretty good. I took pictures of my journey, well part of it. Unfortunately I didn't get any other pictures of Thanksgiving, it was kind of hectic. Anyway, I'm pretty proud of myself so of course I had to share!
Bottom crust with cinnamon sugar mix.
Steamed apples, they make all the difference :)
The rest of the cinnamon sugar mix.
The lattice top, of course.
The finished product.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving :)

Updates
So I've been taking lots of pictures lately and reading my friend Nicole's blog tonight made me want to blog right this minute :) These pictures are random and in no specific order.

So everyone wants to see a picture of Brad and he hates having his picture taken but I think he's ok with this one. It's from Halloween coming home from my family party in Park City.

She really enjoys sitting in my chair, it's kind of funny.

Sammy almost always sleeps like this, in a ball.

Bandit curls up too, but she buries her nose under her legs.

Sammy was trying to sleep and B kept bugging him. They snuggle now and then.
Heading to my mom's one night I saw this awesome sunset that looked like a painting to me so I had to capture it from many angles.

I wish the power lines weren't in the way though.
That's all for now, I'll do more of our family Halloween party later, the costumes were pretty good.

Update
So Brad picked up the new dog last night and decided on a name, we're calling him Sammy. Things went pretty well with him and Bandit. There were some scuffles and they had to be separated, but Bandit is doing a pretty good job of sharing the house and me. I'm hopeful that they'll continue to get along and eventually get to the point where they'd miss the other if they were gone. We'll see.

New dog!! :)
So Brad and I decided we needed another dog. We went to Salt Lake County Animal Services to look at a few last weekend and took Bandit back to meet some this week. On Thursday we met two of them, the first one, a German Sheppard/rottweiler mix, she didn't really warm up to, and the second, a chow/golden retriever mix, was alright, but she seemed scared of him. Today we went back to see how she did with the chow mix again, but decided to look through the dog rooms once more. Well we found a really cute boy that we both liked. And SUCCESS! She didn't raise her hackles when he came out and they got a long really well. He's only 8 months old, but didn't act crazy like many puppies do. He's a tan and white pit bull and they're calling him Shultze, but we're not big on that name. He has to be neutered so we won't be able to pick him up until Monday so by then we should have everything ready for him. We're really hoping Bandit will be ok when we introduce him into the house and they'll get along here as well as they did at the shelter.
If anyone has suggestions on a name, let me know!!

TEXAS!!!
In August I went to New Braunfels, Texas to visit my dad and family. This is my first trip to Texas and I hadn't seen my sisters in about 4 years. I tried to get a lot of pictures but probably didn't get as many as I originally wanted. I was also lucky enough to see my cousin and her family while I was there too. I was only there for 5 days so it was way too short, but I loved seeing them!
My first day I didn't get any pictures. My dad showed me around the town which was settled by German immigrants. It's got a lot of water activity since two rivers run through town. Then I had dinner with my grandparents and finally got to see my sisters :) After dinner we went to my grandparents house so I could see it and their cute dogs.
This is one of two ponds on their 48! acres.

This is the super space shuttle shower/tub....it's got a tv with cable and a place for your iPod, not to mention the multiple shower heads.

The next day, Wednesday, we went tubing in the river. I can't remember the name of the river, but it is specifically for tubing. You can take drinks, no glass or bottles, and snacks with you. If you have your own tube, we did, and you get in a little farther away from the first chute it's free. If not you can rent tubes for a small fee and even get a small tube to put your cooler in :) It was about 2 1/2 hours and so much fun. It's nice to relax and just the right weather. I wanted to go again before I left, but there wasn't time. I got no pictures on that one :(
We went out to my dad's lake house on Thursday. We went out on the jet skis and my Nicole showed me around. There are a lot of houses on the lake and many of the people live there year round. One thing I think is mentionable is that there was a flood at the beginning of July (I think) and amongst the trees on one of the "islands" down the river there is a houseboat that is basically beached. Nicole and dad did some wake boarding, and I chose not to embarrass myself and stayed in the boat. We also did some tubing where my dad tried to throw us off of the tube.

Melissa joined us that night for dinner with the grandparents. We went back to the other house and watched a movie to end the evening.
Friday was my last official day with the family. Dad and Nicole took me to a little town called Gruene, pronounced Green, weird. We went to a cute little souvenir shop and I got a shot glass and a t-shirt. One thing I loved about this place was that it had old license plates on the floor and old concert posters on the windows. We got ice cream from the soda counter too.

Willie's Picnic :)
That night we had dinner at the grandparents house and my cousin, her husband and kids came up from Fort Hood. It was nice to spend time with my dad's side and a piece from my mom's side. We went back to my dad's and went swimming since it's forever hot and humid there, blech.
Saturday, my last day :(, we got up and went to breakfast with my grandparents and I said my farewell's to everyone. It was such a nice trip, and much needed down time. I hope to get back there soon!

It's been awhile
It's been so long since I blogged and there's really no reason for that. I haven't done much with my summer so I've had plenty of time. Anyway, here goes (most likely out of order) :)

The heat
I am in the process of getting my air conditioning fixed so in the mean time my house is upwards of 75 to 80 degrees during the day. It's hot enough for me but my poor animals are just dying. :(
Babe (guinea pig) is rarely out of her little house.
Bandit keeps sprawling on the floor in the path of the fan.
Finally tonight that should be changing!

Funeral
Last Friday my great uncle passed away. We had seen him on Memorial day and he seemed to be fine, so the death was very sudden. Yesterday as part of the burial, there three National Guardsmen gave a Military Tribute. I was really excited to see this since I've never seen one. Taps was played on a Bugle and a flag was presented to my aunt. I didn't think and forgot my camera and I could only get a few pictures on my phone. It was an emotional day, but I think the family succeeded in celebrating his life like he would have wanted.

Graduation
On May 1st I walked with my class at graduation. I already had my diploma, as previously blogged about, and got to participate with everyone else. I really just can't believe that it's finally happened. It still hasn't fully hit me that I'm done with it because I started a new program. Either way I can officially say I am a college graduate and I'm ready to start my career.
I have pictures but I can't get them off of my camera right now so I'll get those posted soon.

Road Trip Summary
It's been forever, I know, but I'm going to do my best to update more frequently now!
So the road trip was a lot of fun. We listened to cd's we hadn't heard in forever and songs we'd forgotten about. We left Friday night so we got in late, but mom waited up for us to make sure we got there ok. Saturday Marissa showed me around town and took me to the Ely mall. This mall consists of a TrueValue where you can find anything you want, I bought me a shirt and a coloring book, and a dollar store. We also went down to an old pharmacy that has an old fashioned soda shop counter where we indulged ourselves in ice cream. I didn't take a picture although I wish I would have. That night we had dinner with Marissa's cousin, her husband and their cute little girls in an old time jail house style restaurant. The food was really good and the atmosphere was fun. Sunday we had dinner with the family and came home. It was nice to be able to see the scenery since it was dark before that. The weekend was a lot of fun but we were both glad to be home.
First picture of the trip, I think Marissa was driving when I took this.

This was the best picture I could get of the sunset, but it doesn't do it justice.
Me and Marissa again before leaving for home.
The road to oblivion....the weather sucked on our way home.
I'm missing a picture and I didn't take as many as I had planned so I suck but oh well.

Road Trip!!!
This Friday I will embark on what I expect to be an interesting journey to Ely, Nevada. My best friend, Marissa, has family there and in all of our 18 years as friends, I have never been there. So this weekend in celebration of her sister's birthday, Marissa and I will make the trek to Ely. I always look forward to road trips with her because we always have fun. So wish us luck and I'll take pictures to document our journey.

Yummy dinner
A suprise in the mail
When I got home last night there was something sticking out of my mail slot in my door. I couldn't figure out what it could be. When I pulled it out of the door I knew what it was. My diploma!!! I was already an official graduate, but having possession of that with my name on it was surreal.

The cover

It's still really cool to say that I have a college degree. It felt like the time would never come.
